SANJIESAN COSPLAY / Photo credits

Prepare the costume-photo credits while the details are still easy to check

A photograph can involve a wearer, maker, stylist and photographer whose contributions overlap. Prepare a short credit list while the session information is still clear. Accurate acknowledgement is easier when it follows the actual work rather than a guessed set of names added just before posting.

Ask each participant for the name and role to use

Collect the agreed public name or handle and the role each person actually performed. Leave uncertain information pending rather than inventing a professional title or authorship. Distinguish the wearer from the maker, and a purchased item’s provider from someone who created a custom component for this session. Use the participants’ own confirmed description when responsibilities overlap. Keep private contact details in the private session record. A public credit list should not expose an email address or personal name someone did not agree to publish merely because it appears on a receipt.

Link the list to the actual image version

Identify the selected photograph and any later editing contribution that needs to be represented in the caption. A credit list for a previous session may not apply to the current file. Keep references to the original character or artwork separate from the people who made this photograph. Accurate credit does not by itself establish permission for a use; follow the actual agreements and seek clarification where needed. This is an organisation method, not a legal determination about who owns every part of a collaborative image.

Check the caption before the file leaves the workflow

Share the proposed caption through the agreed review process, checking spelling, role descriptions and the destination of any handles. Do not treat silence as an invented approval. Keep the confirmed version with the selected filename so a future repost can begin from reliable information. If a correction is needed later, preserve a note of what changed and update the appropriate public version through the normal process. A concise, accurate caption makes the collaboration understandable without an elaborate invented production story or a list of credentials nobody supplied.
