SANJIESAN COSPLAY / Wig reference methods

Show the wig shape without confusing it with the support

An unworn wig picture can help a stylist see an existing shape before a fitting. The support is part of that picture, however, and should not be mistaken for the wearer’s head or shoulders. Plan a few clear reference views with the responsible person, following the actual item’s suitable support guidance.

Identify the front before arranging the frame

Use the actual wig’s known orientation and keep a simple front marker in an appropriate working view. Distinguish the hairline, parting and any separate accessory without moving them to make the photograph prettier. The support should be identifiable as support, not edited into an apparently real head. Ask what the recipient needs to compare, such as the rear outline or a particular side group, so the picture set remains limited and purposeful.

Keep scale information independent of appearance

Where dimensions matter, provide the item’s documented measurements and how they were taken separately from the image. A large support can make the same wig appear relatively small, so the photograph alone is not a size comparison with another setup. Use comparable views when reviewing revisions. Do not rescale one image until the hairstyle matches a desired silhouette and then present it as evidence that the physical object has changed.

Send a small, clearly labelled reference set

Choose the views that answer the agreed questions and label them by orientation. Keep any close detail linked to the whole-wig view so a recipient can locate it. Explain what is hidden by the support or outside the frame. The later fitting remains a separate stage with the actual wearer. A useful unworn reference makes that stage better informed without claiming the stand-in has already answered every fit or picture question.
