Make the wig loan clear before the photo session

A wig borrowed for a single portrait can carry more work than the borrower sees in its finished photograph. Arrange a simple handoff with the owner before it enters the session. This article offers project communication steps; it does not establish legal terms or prescribe a cleaning or styling process for an unknown item.

Identify the exact item and its current state

Name the wig and any separate pieces, keeping a suitable agreed working view if it helps both parties recognise the current arrangement. Ask the owner which maker guidance or special handling information should travel with it. Keep personal contact and storage details private. Do not assume that a familiar character name identifies the right physical object when several versions or colours exist. The handoff should distinguish the actual borrowed item from an inspirational picture.

Agree the session use before changing anything

Discuss who will wear or handle it, the intended photographs and whether any change is allowed. A request to borrow the item is not automatically agreement to cut, recolour, add products or modify a finished style. If the desired picture depends on a change, ask the owner and responsible stylist before treating that picture as the plan. Choose a different view or another item when the permitted use cannot support the proposed session.

Arrange a real return instead of a vague promise

Agree who receives the item, when and in what documented arrangement, following its relevant care guidance. Make unresolved issues visible to the owner before the object disappears into a general costume bag. If something changes during use, report what actually happened without inventing a repair or declaring no damage from a quick glance. A clear return lets the owner decide the next appropriate step and prevents a one-session loan from becoming an unexplained long-term absence.
