SANJIESAN COSPLAY / Wig reference methods
Keep the detached wig pieces with the right look
Several costume looks may use similar detached hair pieces. Colour alone is not always enough to distinguish the intended set. Use a short component identity system that points to the actual base and project, while following the maker’s guidance about separation, handling and storage rather than improvising a way to take a completed wig apart.
Count the actual pieces in the approved arrangement
List the base and the separate components that actually exist, using one plain identifier for each. Do not infer a second piece because a character reference shows two tails. Keep supplier product references and project labels distinct: two identical purchased items may still have different assigned roles in a finished look. Where the components are intentionally asymmetric, include that difference in a clear working view rather than relying on someone remembering it.
Label the location rather than altering the hair
Use an appropriate external container or location label when that suits the item’s guidance. Avoid adding marks, adhesive or attachments to finished surfaces merely for convenience. Keep a small set diagram where a helper can consult it without unpacking every piece. For a fictional set of one base and two detached items, the diagram should account for all three and identify where each belongs, not just announce that the hairstyle has been packed.
Check the set at both handoffs
Before the next agreed use, compare the real items with the set diagram. Afterward, return them through the relevant care and storage process, making any missing or unresolved piece visible to the responsible person. If the styling arrangement changes, revise the project diagram while keeping the underlying product identifiers. This lets the system follow the actual look rather than gradually accumulating old labels that describe combinations no longer used.
