SANJIESAN COSPLAY / Wig colour references
Keep the colour sample’s code with the comparison
A small hair swatch can help a colour discussion, but it becomes less useful when its label is separated from it. Keep the product line and code visible throughout the comparison. A description such as cool silver is a personal shorthand, not a reliable replacement for the maker’s identifier.
Identify the sample you actually have
Record the supplier, line and colour code with a photograph of the labelled sample where appropriate. Arda’s CLASSIC sample description, for example, says the swatch has a numbered tag and that the sample does not include a ring. That is information about the named sample product, not a promise of its current availability. If you have an unlabelled piece, mark the identification uncertain instead of choosing the nearest-looking catalogue code. Keep samples from different lines separate even when their names sound similar.
Compare against the actual costume palette
Place the sample beside the relevant fabric or an accurately identified material sample in ordinary conditions suitable for the items. Notice the relationship rather than seeking a match to an uncalibrated character screenshot. Check the combination in the intended fitting or photography conditions when feasible, while recognising that a small swatch does not test the complete wig’s drape, density or appearance on the wearer. Keep a plain reference photograph if useful, labelled as your comparison rather than a certified colour measurement.
Carry the identifier into the actual selection
When you choose a base style, confirm that the relevant colour option belongs to the same line and ask the supplier about any uncertainty. Do not assume a matching name guarantees identical material or construction across ranges. Keep the sample record and the selected product reference together, noting if the maker’s information changes. If the swatch does not resolve an important question, ask for an appropriate additional reference instead of turning a small comparison into a guarantee. The code makes a conversation repeatable; it does not remove the need to inspect the complete product information.
