Describe the length zones, not one overall number

A layered character hairstyle may have a short fringe, a longer face frame and a much longer back. One overall length cannot explain all three. Use a simple zone drawing to describe the visible target, while leaving the real product measurements and any styling work to their own documented information and suitable professional judgement.

Draw zones that correspond to visible questions

Use three or four regions relevant to the selected look rather than an elaborate map of every strand. For each region, mark the visible endpoint relative to a clear feature in that reference view, such as the jaw line or costume shoulder. These are visual relationships, not wearer measurements. Retain the exact source view because an endpoint in a turned head illustration may be hard to compare with a straight product photograph.

Compare product information region by region

When examining a candidate base, look for views and measurements that answer each zone’s question. A stated back length does not resolve fringe shape. Mark a region as unresolved when the supplier has not shown it clearly. Do not assume a longer overall option supplies more useful length everywhere, or that the photographed styling is included. The comparison should show where the candidate already resembles the target and where a separate styling decision remains.

Make the remaining request specific

Bring the zone drawing and the exact candidate reference to the relevant stylist or supplier. Ask about a named area rather than whether the whole wig can become the character. Keep answers tied to that product and the intended wearer. A workable project may use a different base, a separate permitted component or a revised picture plan. Do not begin irreversible changes simply to find out which interpretation of the original length number was correct.
