SANJIESAN COSPLAY / BUYING GUIDE

Choose paper for the print you intend to make

A portrait that works on a screen still needs a separate printing decision. Canon’s paper directory offers different sizes and surface families, but a familiar paper name does not settle compatibility with your printer. Begin with one agreed portfolio use and the actual printing route, then compare the precise sheet option.

Set the print use and supported media first

Decide whether the print is a small review copy, a portfolio page or a larger image for a planned display. Ask the person operating the printer which media formats, sizes and settings the exact model supports, using its current documentation. If a print service is doing the work, compare its actual offered materials instead of buying unrelated paper yourself. Keep the approved image and permitted use clear; choosing paper does not resolve image-use permissions.

Compare sheet size with image and margins

Make a paper layout using the intended image area and any required margins. In an invented example, an 18-by-24-centimetre image centred on a 21-by-29.7-centimetre sheet leaves different horizontal and vertical margins; this does not prove that the printer can use all of that area. Check its documented printable region. Do not stretch the costume portrait to fill a sheet if that changes the wearer’s proportions. Choose a different layout or a deliberately approved crop instead.

Use a representative print before a large pack

Compare suitable actual samples or a modest trial through the agreed print process, looking at the costume colours, dark details and intended viewing conditions. Do not claim the result from a retailer’s screen swatch. Keep the exact paper reference and sheet count beside the chosen layout, and verify the selected option’s current contents because a category and individual product page may differ. If the layout or printing route remains undecided, a large pack can simply lock the project into an unanswered choice.
