SANJIESAN COSPLAY / Portrait scene planning

Budget the session time beyond the shutter clicks

A short costume session includes more than the minutes spent taking pictures. Arrival, agreed setup, review and returning belongings all occupy time. Make a simple worked plan with the people involved, using their actual needs instead of borrowing a universal timetable from a different event. The example below is arithmetic, not a promise about anyone’s working speed.

Start with the real available window

Ask what time the space, photographer and wearer are actually available, including any venue conditions. Name the essential deliverable before adding optional pictures. A portrait session with one complete look is a different task from two looks with a substantial change. Keep any agreed breaks or personal requirements part of the plan from the start rather than treating them as an interruption that will somehow fit around the camera work.

Add the parts in a transparent example

Suppose a fictional 60-minute window assigns 10 minutes to arrival and setup, 25 to the main pictures, 10 to review and 10 to returning equipment and belongings. That totals 55 minutes, leaving 5, not an extra full look. These values are assumptions for discussion. Replace them with the actual team’s estimates and check dependencies: a new setup may need both time and assistance, not merely a change of background in the picture list.

Cut optional scope before compressing essentials

Agree which optional image drops first if the session starts late. Keep the essential complete picture achievable and check the plan with the wearer. If the timetable does not fit, simplify or arrange a different session rather than promising that everyone will work faster. Record the updated order briefly so helpers follow the same plan. A realistic small session is useful when it completes the agreed purpose and ends with the objects and people properly handed back.
