SANJIESAN COSPLAY / Portrait delivery methods

Agree the output colour profile with the recipient

The same costume image may be delivered to a website and a print provider. Adobe’s colour-management guidance explains that output profiles help translate colour for different devices and gives sRGB as an online export example. Ask the actual recipient what its workflow requires before choosing the output, without promising identical appearance on every screen or paper.

Identify the receiving process

Keep the approved image revision and intended use together. Ask the website or print provider about supported formats, dimensions and colour-profile requirements using its actual instructions. Do not assume a profile that suited a previous print service also suits this one. A public portfolio preview and an editable master have different roles, so prepare the agreed output without replacing the appropriate source. Unknown requirements should remain a question rather than being filled by an impressive-sounding colour-space name.

Let the editor prepare the supported output

Have the responsible editor follow the actual software documentation to prepare the agreed profile and file. Keep this task separate from white-balance or creative grading decisions that change the image’s intended look. Merely renaming a file does not convert its colour information. Inspect the actual export through the receiving workflow where possible, and report a concrete discrepancy to the relevant person rather than immediately repainting the costume colours to compensate for an unexplained display difference.

Keep separate deliverables clearly identified

Label the online and print outputs by their agreed purposes, preserving the source relationship. If the print provider supplies an appropriate proof process, use that process before treating the final appearance as settled. A browser preview is not a physical paper proof. Keep the chosen settings with the accepted output so future revisions can be prepared consistently, while recognising that a changed recipient or material may require a fresh output decision.
