SANJIESAN COSPLAY / Costume planning
Pack for the order in which the looks will be used
Two planned looks may share a base garment but use different accessories, wigs or visible layers. Packing everything by material or colour can make a simple change unnecessarily confusing. Start from the agreed picture order and the actual objects, following each item’s own care and transport guidance rather than treating this article as a universal packing method.
Lay out each complete combination on paper
Name the looks in the order they are expected to appear. List the pieces actually used in each, distinguishing shared items from look-specific ones. A photographed accessory is not necessarily included with a purchased garment, so verify what you physically have before assigning it to a bundle. Keep personal belongings and equipment separate from costume components. If an item is still missing, make that visible while the picture order can still be adjusted.
Give shared items one clear place
For an invented two-look session, a belt used in both combinations should not be counted as two physical belts. Decide when it moves and who is responsible for returning it to the agreed place. Put small look-specific items together in a suitable labelled arrangement, subject to their actual material guidance. Do not force a large or delicate component into the same container merely to keep the outfit visually grouped; the paper grouping and the physical packaging can differ.
Walk through the change without adding pressure
Before departure, walk through what is needed for the first look, what remains packed and what changes for the next one. Use the actual containers and labels rather than an idealised list. If the change needs more space, time or assistance than planned, simplify the sequence with the wearer. The arrangement should reduce searching and confusion, not become a demand to change faster. Finish by confirming how all items return after the final picture.
