SANJIESAN COSPLAY / Digital prop artwork

Ask for the kind of artwork the prop task needs

A clear preview can show what an emblem looks like without containing the editable shapes needed for a revision. Inkscape’s documentation distinguishes pixels in a bitmap from objects in vector artwork, and notes that a vector file can also contain a bitmap. Ask about the actual contents, not just the filename extension.

Describe the change before choosing a format

Identify the actual task: moving one emblem element, changing a permitted colour region or preparing a plain visual proof. A preview may be sufficient for the last task while being insufficient for the first. Keep the approved artwork source and its permitted use clear. Do not ask someone to recreate protected detail from a small screenshot merely because the editable source is absent. A missing file is a project question, not evidence that another person has supplied the required rights or source.

Inspect the contents of an agreed working copy

Have the responsible designer check whether the relevant elements are separate editable objects, embedded images or a mixture. Keep the original unchanged while the team reviews a working copy. A file called emblem.svg may still contain a single placed image rather than the desired individual paths. Name the specific missing capability, such as independently moving the central symbol, instead of declaring the entire file useless. Another suitable source or a revised task may be enough.

Deliver the source and preview for their own purposes

Agree which file will remain editable and which will be used for a quick visual check. Link them with a clear revision label so the approved preview can be traced to its actual source. The maker still needs the appropriate specifications for the real process; editable vectors do not automatically constitute a machine-ready file. A useful handoff gives each recipient what they need without presenting a nice thumbnail as a complete production package.
